But that is Brothers in arms and makes the game different from the last 20 WW2 FPS games on a console. Lets face it I would never had been a leader in WW2 and most likely no one else would have either that plays the game. I for one don't like to command men to fire on the germans to SURPRESS them behind cover I like The computer to help out when it can but let me get all the HEAD shots in and find away to flank the Enemy.
#REVIEW BROTHERS IN ARMS PC GAME REVIEW MOVIE#
The Story seems to Drag out a little longer at times than it really needs to, if you didnt play the last brothers in arms then it will get you up to date, other wise your sitting there watching a movie when your fingers are itching for some krauts. Also shooting through any wood material is nice as well. I love the ability to hide behind cover and peek and shoot thats nice something I wish was available on Airborne. Ok I have played many a games WW2 perfered from the first PS1 MOH to current on Xbox 360. The MP is very enjoyable, especially if you can get a group that works well together. Me from playing it through more than once. It does suffer from some flaws but this did not prevent The game is fairly authentic and sensitive in its presentation of war and its horrors. Overall, the game was very enjoyable and took me about 8 hrs the first time to fnish it, which is good economy for the purchase. Units will sometimes remain in the open rather than take cover and will take dangerous routes to get to cover, but the AI is generaly very intelligent and dangerous. The game does have some minor detail issues and streaming problems, and AI (on both sides) can behave strangely. You win by either destroying the other team, or raising your flag (if the attacking team) or defending the flagpoles (if you're the defending team). Online, the player can either be a squad leader, a rifleman, a tank driver, or a special weapons soldier (MG, bazooka, or sniper). At points, you will be able to drive a tank but the majority, and best parts of, the combat are solo or with your squad. You will command 3 different fire teams as you progress through the levels and will use a variety of objects to take cover on as you try to outflank and eliminate German resistance.

The player will play through the eyes of Matt Baker and witness as he struggles with the burdens of leadership and the price of war. It is a squad-based shooter set during Operation market Garden and follows the story of Sgt Matt Baker and his squad. It has an intro cinematic that, for the most part, sums up earlier stories and introduces the predominant themes of the game. There was this Scottish (?) accent.īut if I think of World War 2 games, I think of Brothers In Arms, and I wish that some of that era was still with us now. This game picks up where its predecessors left off but you do not ened to be familiar with Hill 30 or Earned in Blood to follow the story or enjoy the game. I am fairly sure the last line of the final cutscene is a grizzled, "Snow? I can handle snow," as a setup for a Bastogne-set sequel that never happened. The game aimed to deal with the superstition of men at war, though may have inadvertently confirmed the existence of ghosts. Not that Hell's Highway was perfect, of course. It still felt like heroism, but of a dogged and methodical sort. You'd soon learn a rhythm to progress in the game: tell two men to lay down suppressing fire, tell another two men to flank from the east, and then wait for your moment to break between hedgerows in order to overwhelm the enemies holding a gun emplacement. This is where they offered a sense of military tactics far greater than its rivals. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway was the third and seemingly final entry.īrothers In Arms games could be played by running and gunning between its myriad cinematic sequences, but they shined most if you stopped, took cover, and instead directed your squad of friendly soldiers to do part of the work for you.
#REVIEW BROTHERS IN ARMS PC GAME REVIEW SERIES#
While we all tired of World War 2 games and the Brothers in Arms series was never as popular as Medal of Honor or Call of Duty, they were each smartly designed games about first-person squad tactics. I almost never hear people mention the Brothers in Arms games anymore, and that's a shame. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time. Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations.
